Dear Ardventure lovers, join us to our new alternative trek “Ausangate trek 3 Days to Rainbow Mountain“, where wild animals inhabit: vizcacha and birds like eaglet, Andean carpenter, huallatas. In the rural communities agriculture is largely traditional and concentrates on the production of a great variety of tubers, among which the oca, the year, the ulluco and the potato stand out.
The Ausangate mountain is located between the districts of Ocongate and Pitumarca. The northeast side of the snow is located in Ocongate and the southwest side corresponds to the district of Pitumarca. It is the most representative mountain in the Andes of southern Peru and the highest in the Vilcanota mountain range. The summit of the Ausangate Mountain is 6,382 m.a.s.l. and trekkers can only reach to 5.200 m.a.s.l. (the 5 day trek).
There is also variability of alpacas and llamas as well as vicuñas giving a unique touch to the local landscape. This tour can be done at any time of the year, but it is recommended to do it between the months of May and September because in these months the climate is very favorable to be able to better enjoy the surrounding landscape, since in other months the rains are very frequent.
